On the Subject of Joy

Reflections of a Danser on the Subject of Joy

Joy is the certainty of God through the testimony of
the Saints; the worship of God within the shelter of
His Holy Church; and the simplicity of communion
between God and the soul embracing each other in
the miracle of music.

Joy is this wordless wonder in the Power of creation
dansing before my eyes, confirming the miracle of the
life of me.

Joy is oneness with a Divine Presence watching a ring
danse performed at the Feast of Tabernacles.

Joy is listening, in ancient times, to the Gnostic
Hymn of Jesus while dansing with the angels.

Joy knows no boundaries
In the frame of time
When angels sing a blissful invitation.
(Without the limitations of a rhyme)
To join with them to celebrate Creation.

My soul requires no rest from Song and Danse
In its impatience for those sweet embraces.
When angel hymns exhibit our Romance,
My heart takes wings toward their ancient places.

THE CURATOR’S NOTE: Joy is the certainty of God’s presence through the testimony of saints, worship in the church, and communion with the divine. It embodies the wonder of creation, the connection with a sacred presence, the celebration of life through music and dance, and an insatiable longing for the divine romance in harmony.
